Backend API & Infra Engineer
Overview
As a Backend API & Infra Engineer at JobPixel, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our application's Laravel-based API, pursuing opportunities with the latest in AI, improving our video services, and enhancing our AWS-based service infrastructure. Your expertise in Laravel, AWS services, Audio & Video, AI, and database management will be pivotal in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our platform. This is primarily a coding position and is not an entry-level role. You will report directly to the CTO.
Location: Remote (the best qualified candidates from anywhere in the world are welcome to apply)
Salary: Competitive. Location adjusted and depending on experience. Includes a generous equity package.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust API endpoints using Laravel for web app integration and functionality enhancements.
- Contribute to the maintenance and implementation of scalable and resilient AWS infrastructure, including role-based access control systems and permissions.
- Manage and optimize our database solutions, including MySQL/RDS, Redis/ElastiCache, and InfluxDB, for high performance and scalability.
- Ensure application reliability and scalability, focusing on infrastructure improvements and proactive problem-solving.
- Utilize the Elastic Stack, Grafana, and Logstash for comprehensive logging and monitoring, enabling effective performance tracking and issue resolution.
- Explore and integrate new AI technologies to enhance video content creation and management, aligning with JobPixel's innovative vision.
Qualifications
- Deep experience in backend development with Laravel and infrastructure management on AWS.
- Proficient in database management and optimization, specifically with MySQL/RDS, Redis/ElastiCache, and InfluxDB.
- Demonstrated ability in scaling and ensuring the reliability of application infrastructure.
- Experience with the Elastic Stack, Grafana, and Logstash for logs and monitoring.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
- Deep experience with engineering algorithms, coding patterns, and testing patterns to ensure long term maintainability, predictability, and reliability of JobPixel applications and infrastructure.
- A strong background in video technology and leveraging AI in a tech-driven environment.
- Experience developing infrastructure using IaC such as Pulumi or Terraform.
- Comfortable working with additional programming languages like Node.js and React is a plus.
- Ability to collaborate with other engineers, including devops/infra, api, and web app team members.
